This witty copywriter keeps a blog, "Blank is Like Blank" where he wrote some of the best analogies I ever read. Definitely will worth your while to pay a visit.
A few of my favourites:
Starbucks is like that crazy ex-girlfriend you still get together with:
You hate yourself for going back, but the familiarity makes it convenient, and until you find something better, it’s all you’ve got.
Advertising is like porn:
You shouldn’t stay in the same position for too long.
Watching your baby projectile vomit for the first time is like witnessing a car accident:
It’s mostly scary, but a little fascinating, assuming no one is seriously hurt.
Using Helvetica is like owning a Mac:
It looks so cool that you never bother to stop and think if you really need to.
A good haircut is like a seat on the subway in the morning:
It’s great when I get one, but I’ve given up on hoping for it, and am used to functioning without it.

In pillow talks.
Third book about him I read. The first person I found myself an admirer of. Blue sky of the day reminds me of this guy who explained why the sky is blue (in his paper on critical opalescence described the cumulative effect of light scattered by individual molecules in the atmosphere gives it colour).

i am me.

It was 1998 back then. Stood alone in faculty office, I was fascinated by a piece of writing hanged on the wall. For 30 mins I stared at it, lifted my mind up above the ceiling.
The very next day having coffee in the faceless crowd at cafeteria, the plain sentences and simple words still grabbed all of me. It wasn't as easy as it is now to search for articles via the internet. So I went to the faculty office again to write it down on my notebook disregarding the curious pairs of eyes:
i am me - "My Declaration of Self-esteem"
by Virginia Satir
In all the world, there is no one else exactly like me -
everything that comes out of me is authentically mine,
because I alone choose it -
I own everything about me -
my body, my feelings, my mouth, my voice, all my actions,
whether they be to others or to myself -
I own my fantasies, my dreams, my hopes, my fears -
I own all my triumphs and successes, all my failures and mistakes.
Because I own all of me, I can become intimately acquainted with me -
by so doing I can love me and be friendly with me in all my parts -
I know there are aspects about myself that puzzle me,
and other aspects that I do not know -
but as long as I am friendly and loving to myself,
I can courageously and hopefully look for solutions to the puzzles and for ways to find out more about me -
However I look and sound, whatever I say and do, and whatever I think and feel at a given moment in time is authentically me -
If later some parts of how I looked, sounded, thought and felt turned out to be unfitting, I can discard that which I feel is unfitting, keep the rest, and invent something new for that which I discarded -
I can see, hear, feel, think, say, and do. I have the tools to survive, to be close to others, to be productive, and to make sense and order out of the world of people and things outside of me -
I own me, and therefore I can engineer me -
I am me &
I AM OKAY

Happy Birthday Willie.
I was reminded it was William Shakespeare's birthday a few days back. The man lives across centuries after his death. May the beautiful beautiful lines cudgel thy mind, touch thy soul, now and then.
"And since you know you cannot see yourself,so well as by reflection, I, your glass, will modestly discover to yourself, that of yourself which you yet know not of. "
"The very substance of the ambitious is merely the shadow of a dream."
"I must be cruel only to be kind; Thus bad begins, and worse remains behind. "
"Being born is like being kidnapped. And then sold into slavery."
"Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none."
"I pray you bear me henceforth from the noise and rumour of the field, where I may think the remnant of my thoughts in peace, and part of this body and my soul with contemplation and devout desires."
P.S. Happy Birthday, Mr. N. Will you ever seen this? Ms. L will have the answer. Wish you all the best and may your beautiful algorithm rock the world. lol.

Ephemeral, we all sadly-luckily are.

Barely a week since I shoot these flowers. The colour faded, the petals withered and fell then. So as we are.
Milan Kundera stated in [The Unbearable Lightness of Being] that a life which disappears once and for all, which does not return, is like a shadow, without weight, dead in advance, and whether it was horrible, beautiful, or subline, its horror, sublimity and beauty mean nothing. The myth of eternal return.
But no, I stepped forward from the lay-back post and know for sure that my very own life is heavy and beautiful for its transience and non-recurrance.
I gonna live long enough to taste it real. Thx to people who care about my health. Especially my beloved sister Lea.
